GVPR does the rural electrification under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Viodyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Maharastra. The RGGVY programme aims to extend power supply to the people below poverty line. The scheme also provides extension of electrical power to the farmers' pump sets in Punjab.

Under the proposed power project, GVPR is in the process of erecting distribution transformers, laying 11 KV LT Lines and commissioning of 33/11 KV sub stations.
